WALMART SUPERCENTER SANTA FE

5701 Herrera Drive

Santa Fe, New Mexico

140,000 sq. ft. store

Construction for this Walmart Supercenter site and surrounding commercial subdivision was completed in 2011 at a cost of more than $25,000,000.00.  Strict land use policies were adhered to, making this Supercenter environmentally friendly.  Energy efficiency was a priority and technology was used to reduce utility costs and water consumption.  Skylights were installed to harvest daylight and reduce energy required to light the store. Water resources in Santa Fe County are vulnerable to drought conditions.  An underground rainwater harvesting storage system was constructed to supply harvested water to the Xeriscape landscaping via drip irrigation systems.  SMC’s design and implementation of the rainwater harvesting system has been recognized as an industry leader for future designs of similar nature.
